This is a great cloth hat that had been sprayed with a water repellent. Do NOT expect this to shed more than short rain bursts. Even after additional treatments with ScotchGard, inside and out, to the point that it held a small amount of water I poured on it, and beaded it just fine. Still... the hat was soaked through in the first rain I went out in. I bought a clear vinyl and elastic "cowboy hat cover", to use like a "rain fly" for the hat in downpours. now I don't have to worry...

I wear 7-3/8 (23", 59.5cm), liked the hat, just too small, gave to my 9yr old grandson, he likes it, wears it all the time.
