Chris Achilleos is a genius
Chris Achilleos is better know in Europe than in America. He is truly one of the most creative artists alive today. His most famous work is the cover for the original Heavy Metal movie. One of his older books is listed on my Listmania for science fiction art.

some pretty good work!
Having discovered Chris Achilleos' work back in the day, I followed his progress for some years before more or less petering out in the mid-90s. I used to own all his books of collected work - Beauty & the Beast, Sirens, Medusa and Amazons, but somehow they all got borrowed, sold or just plain lost over time. It was with great pleasure that I recently found via Amazon, Amazona - pun not intended! - and the copy I bought was a measly penny plus shipping for a 'used' edition.I have to say, it was definitely worth the penny! And the 'used' condition was far better than just 'good' - very good in fact! Some of his latter work, including the more goth and fetish illustrations are very good indeed - and the 'full-page' images certainly do them justice. I have even contemplated obtaining another inexpensive copy, just to be able to remove and frame a handful of examples. There are several retrospective images here at the start of the book as well as more recent - and by recent, I mean the latest is 2004! - work, and it is quite pleasant to go back over the archives. As far as I am aware, there are no more up-to-date collected works.Chris's work is very distinctive - his style is instantly recognisable, even if his work has matured and evolved over the last 3 decades or so. A good definitive book and a worthy addition to my shelves!

a master with a unique style
I have a number of Chris Achilleos's books and these were very evocative in both my younger brother's and my student years where his artwork paralleled Boris and Frank Frazetta but was uniquely Chris. His depiction of women has progressed in these renditions giving a more contemporary feel the the women subjects.Sensual and classic elements are nevertheless evident. If you are an art lover, you have to own at least one Chris Achilleos book, and this one is a super addition to anyone's library.
