Cost is a little more but worth every penny !!
I did a lot of research before purchasing this Kaba Deadbolt. Many of my neighbors at my Ocean Condo have all the other brands (Schlage majority- Depot Specials) and they all work but to me they seem cheaply made as the Keyed Knob that you turn to activate the lock is loose and flimsy. Also, the actual casing of the entire assembly is cheap painted sheet metal - drill bit would drill through in about 2 seconds. The Kaba assembly is a thick cast metal alloy, extremely hard to drill through. As for the knob that you turn to open the lock, it is tight and secure without a key opening. The backup keyed lock is not exposed as it is hidden behind a name plug. Been using it now for about a month and it is awesome. The actual programming of the codes is sometimes a little confusing but patience and You Tube can help. I did write down on piece of paper all the codes beforehand as to which person received which code number so once I started the programming it went a little smoother.

It’s solid and it works
After using a Schlage lock with similar functionality (poor experience - first one failed and had to be replaced; both units were flimsy) and then seeing this one at a friend’s house, I decided to fork over the $ for this one. This lock is very solid. The installation required drilling a second hole through the door. The basic installation was simple. I did get the left/right wrong and and to take it off and correct that. (I assumed that if the outside unit of the lock was on the left side of the door and the deadbolt went to the left that it was a “left” installation. It’s not.)

Malfunctioned in a year and a half
Liked the features when I bought it and while it worked but then it kept failing and needs batteries replaced every 2 to 3 weeks. This was a good lock up to that point. Only other issue I had was locking pin fell out of grove and you couldn't open lock with code or key. I was able to fix it as we have another entrance. If we had only one entrance it would have needed to be cut out.

Difficult to program
Solid lock but the programming is ridiculously difficult unless you have an two hours to study how to program the lock. This is not a 5 minute Job. Plan for 45 minutes to install assuming no door holes required to install. It will get messy if you run into door altercations.

Only One for Real Security
I bought the Schlage smart locks, but they end up being so insecure. It takes five seconds to drill a tiny hole in the lower left and boom, the lock opens. Go to youtube and see that. With this lock, it's as tamper proof as you can get at this price point. I switched over, and I haven't had any troubles. It's secure, and as far as I know, it's as tamper proof as a keyed lock, if not a lot more. Recommend.
