I bought this to crush cat meds for daily prep. It is the cutest little gadget. Small, possibly 1/3 of a cup capacity and will be quite useful for pulverizing other things like garlic, etc. Happy with this purchase

does exactly what it is meant to do, wish i would have gotten a larger one. I use it for equine meds and it's not big enough if they need more than a few pills. Doable, but bigger is better.

The marble or stone used to make this mortar and pestle is absolutely beautiful! The bottom of the mortar has a rubber base so that it doesn't slide around on the countertop or on your cutting board. It is a nice size for doing something in between for cooking. The one main problem and the reason I removed two stars is that the inside of the mortar and the bottom of the pestle are completely smooth and Polished! Those of you that cook and use this tool in the kitchen know that the inside should be rough and the bottom of the pestle should also be a little bit rough so that you can grind better. Since they are both smooth, if you are grinding something a little bit harder, it slides around in the mortar too easily.

Absolutely BEAUTIFUL piece! Very effective for grinding to the finest powder achievable! (Thought it would be a little bigger though.)
