Authentic Libyan Desert Glass Jewelry Cabochon Sterling Silver Fancy Style Bracelet The Egyptians were probably the first to discover Libyan Desert Glass. They used it in jewelry and were fascinated enough with it to carve it into the form of a scarab which was then placed as the centerpiece in one of the breastplates for the young Egyptian Pharaoh King Tutankhamun. What is Libyan Desert Glass and how did the Egyptians of King Tutankhamun's dynasty obtain a piece of glass created by a colossal meteorite impact? The region in which it is found in modern times is a place so hostile that it is difficult to be reached by traveling on camels. This 26 million year old glass is so extraordinary that upon scientific examination it was found to be filled with nano-diamonds, iridium, traces of chondrite meteorite and other geological signatures of an apparent meteoritic impact event. There was a reason as to why his Egyptian prospectors were looking for this specific glass. Not only was it one of the rarest material that inspired the imagination with its allure and beauty, but it was also a gem that most nearly matched the color of the Sun. These golden droplets found strewn about the Libyan Desert were absolutely perfect for the purposes of the king, even though the Egyptians probably had little clue as to where this exotic yellow glass originated or the otherworldly method of its creation. We have fashioned one of these beautiful, froth-like yellow gemstones into fine cosmic jewelry. Found by bedouins and explorers, it has made its way to us to create jewelry fit for royalty!
