ZHPUAT [Upgrade Version] 4.6" Smart Backlight Alarm Clock with Dimmer (Black)

Great little clock.Shoppers are probably aware that Amazon is awash in low cost digital clocks, so finding the right one can be a challenge. After looking at a number of possible choices, I selected this one.Turns out to be a good choice in terms of functions, features, and price. Having a choice of colors is a definite plus for me as this clock is for my 11 year old daughter who wanted to replace her old clock in her bedroom with a digital clock, and green is her favorite color.All the functions and settings options are pretty straightforward such that you do not really need printed instructions. The printed instructions it comes with exemplify this as they literally told me nothing that was not obvious from just looking at the setting buttons on the back.The clock digits are nice and large such that you could read them from across the room. In normal mode, there is no backlight so your digits appear like standard black on gray LCD displays that have been around forever. With the backlight turned on, you get a nice soothing pale green backlight... with is mellow, but may be bright enough to disturb some people trying to go to sleep. This is where the dim backlight comes in.. as it is perfect for low level nighttime display light that can be read easily but is not bright enough to disrupt sensitive sleepers. The large snooze button across the top of the clock also activate the back light for 5 seconds... for nighttime checking of time when needed.The only downside to many clocks on Amazon, including this one is the alarm feature. Having to turn the alarm on and off using a slide switch on the back side of the clock is poor design. There should be an off button on the top that shuts off the alarm when you wake up... but since my daughter does not need the alarm feature... this was not a factor in my decision to purchase. Also, the alarm is pretty weak... but again.. I don't need an alarm.My daughter thought it was really cool that the clock includes a temperature sensor and readout as well.I have no idea yet how long the clock will run on the batteries (3 AAA, not included), but if I find it annoying in the future, this clock is certainly easy for me to modify to install an external power source... so I'll just let it run and see how long it goes on a set of batteries.The two improvements that would be great for this clock would be to include and external power jack and to include an off button for the alarm on the top of the clock. Of course these would add more cost to the clock and make it more expensive, but it would also improve two key shortcomings of this clock. Thing is... these clocks are all manufactured in bulk in large assembly plants in China and then wholesaled to various parties who then brand them and resell them.... so the supplier here is dependent on design changes by the factories, and probably cannot directly influence feature improvements that much.... other then branding labels and color choices.

These are just my initial thoughts at the unboxing. 1st of all, even though fufilled by Amazon, so packaging is very nice, the original packaging this comes in I like because there is a protective sleeve around the clock w/in its original box. 2nd observation = the battery compartment lid is very tight to get off, so be patient. 3rd observation = the area for 2 AAA batteries to be inserted = VERY TIGHT!! I put the single one in first and then attempted to get the remaining 2 in their stacked position - I was at work and the alarm kept going off whilest I struggled to get those last 2 batteries in...rather embarrassing. Recommendation: put in the 2 stacked ones 1st (and yes you will be wrestling for a bit) and then put the last one in its single area and avoid alarms going off (even thought I believed I had the alarm turned off) :)Numbers are big = I like! Love the bright pink! Changing the temp from C to F was a bit tricky. Once everything else is set and locked, then press the middle round button that says temp = changed :)Alarm is loud as my office mates can attest. :POnce I have a chance to check out the light and its sensor, I will update, but so far I am pleased :)UPDATE - light sensor is GREAT! Upgrading to 5 stars!

I opened the package last night just before I went to bed - found I had misplaced the instructions - said the heck with it and looked at the back panel. It took me about 2-1/2 minutes to set the clock and the alarm (and I am NOT known for my mechanical ability). This morning at the appointed time it began to beep - loud enough to wake me, but not loud enough to make me want to throw it across the room, which is my usual response to any sound occurring before noon, Pacific Daylight Time.I hit the snooze button 3 or 4 times, partly to make sure it worked properly, but mostly because of that “before noon” thing. I finally said a few words I will not repeat here, and turned the alarm OFF (a procedure different enough from hitting the snooze button to make it unlikely that even a person in my state of unconsciousness could confuse the two actions - one of my primary reasons for choosing this clock). As a matter of fact, I like it so much that I’m going right back to Amazon to buy another one in a different color.

First of all, I love the color (kind of a soft fuchsia) and the numbers are nice and large which is a plus. I like all the readouts (date/temperature/alarm setting), although I'm still testing the temperature readout, as I'm not sure that's reading correctly. Basically the only reason for the 4 stars is that I had a problem with the setting instructions. The buttons on the back are "double purposed", and that confused me. 12/24 hour button is the same for the year, min/date is the same for the C/F temperature button, and hour is the same for the month. Had to kind of work on that for awhile. Other than that, it's a cute little clock.

The display is easy to read, I love the option I have to make the background lighted so my son can see it at night. The only negative with this is the noise it makes to wake you up is so bad. So. Bad. Maybe it's just because it is waking us up, and that in general is bad, but I've been tempted to throw it across the room. So maybe that's not a negative if you need something to really wake you up in the morning. I have three of these for my three kids. So much loudness in the morning.

My initial review which was pretty negative and apparently not posted by Amazon, I gave it a negative due to it's overall appearance because it looked clunky and poorly designed. However since I have been using it for a few month's now, I find it stays very accurate on time and alarm and indeed one cannot miss the alarm sound. Although it is awkward as one has to pick it up turn it over to stop the alarm. I now gave it a much better rating, one that Amazon Will publish

When the clock arrived it rattled like something was broken, all seemed fine but the light sensor did not work. I bought this for my daughters room so I wanted one with a back light so this was not satisfactory. Otherwise the clock seemed very good, easy to set and nice big display. I'm returning it for a refund though.

Only had this delivered today so this is not a long-term review, just initial thoughts.Got the pink one - lovely colour.Large display, clear easy to read numbers. Date small but perfectly legible, along with th temperature, on approach. Not too bright in the dark - it does show up! I didn't really believe it would but there you go. Not too bad. The button at the top for snooze/light is large and obvious. Nice clunk noise when you press it. Setting alarm time etc simple just have to keep turning around to check which buttons on the back you're pressing. But that's not a big deal, just how the clock is shaped. What else... Clear alarm noise (beep beep beep very quickly and quite high pitch but not too high).Needs three AAA batteries not included.Photos: in the light and in pitch back.

Purchased two of these for my seven and five year olds, lovely vibrant colours, simple to set up and use, big, clear display.They seem nice and robust, both have already been dropped a number of times and seem none the worse for it, can't fault for the price.

Bought these a couple of months ago for my son and daughter and for the first 2 weeks there were brilliant...perfect size, night light just right... but it seems their life expectancy is very short (despite new batteries) both screens have become distorted and you can only read the dial if you tip the clocks at a certain angle. Not impressed

Certainly wasn't worth even the low price. I persevered and gave it the benefit of the doubt the first few times the alarm clock reset itself when I touched it (like in the night by pressing the light button to read the time) but now it has gone intermittently blank and resets itself when I try to set it. The display is a bit too bright for my liking and it is impossible to read the time at an angle, but it did the job of telling me the time and waking me up... for a few weeks. Will try to return it as faulty.
