It took me real effort to find a gluten-free chocolate advents calendar. You'd be surprised how many variants threaten that they might contain wheat, which is just ridiculous. I called the company; this calendar is gluten free. We've been using Madelaine chocolate advents calendars for years, and one of my kids is a "gluten barometer"; believe me, if this calendar contained gluten, we would know it.There is a LOT more chocolate in this advents calendar than in the ones from Vermont Christmas company. Just a friendly head's up! The pieces are a lot bigger.CAUTION: There are various styles of this calendar. The thing to watch out for is to make sure you get the one with 8oz of chocolate, not the one with less, like I accidentally got last year. I may never live to hear the end of it.

The packaging was pretty but mine arrived with most of the compartments opened. That defeats the purpose of an advent calendar to have the kids open each day.

I used to own a candy store and we carried little mesh bags with these Madelaine chocolate presents. This advent has the very same Christmas present chocolates. It's really creamy, quality chocolate. My boys definitely like this advent calendar better than the $1 ones I was buying at Trader Joe's. Obviously these Madelaine calendars are more expensive, but you get a decent size piece of chocolate instead of a little smear you pop out with other advent calendars. We'll be buying these next year.*Note: I was offered $3 to write an honest review. Good or bad. This was easy since we loved the product.

A tiny bit expensive for an advent calendar, but worth every penny! The chocolate is delicious, and WAY better than the cheapo German chocolates you get in the normal ones you get at the grocery store.

I'm surprised I don't see more reviews mentioning how poor a product this is. The decorative box is flimsy, bent, and not packaged properly. A few doors were already opened, and the rest will open upon holding the package incorrectly. I will not buy this product again. I tried finding one similar to the one my German girlfriend gave me, but I got my hopes up.

Based on past reviews, I opted for this (somewhat more expensive) chocolate advent calendar because folks were saying that the chocolates were bigger and yummier than other, cheaper ones. All true! My kids LOVE this calendar, the chocolates are indeed a very good size for an advent calendar and wrapped in a foil that looks like a little gift. The advent calendar remains one of our favorite holiday traditions despite the fact my kids are now 16 and 13. Would definitely buy again!

Nice chocolate, pretty display. The chocolate pieces are larger than some other calendars. They are also individually wrapped. I sent this to my college student living out of state as a fun surprise. Some of the chocolate came home over Christmas break and I was impressed with it. Big kids like chocolate, too!

Many of the door perforations had already opened, but chocolate was still safe inside. Chocolate isn’t anything to write home about, but are they ever in this type of product? The pieces themselves are larger than what you’d usually get and are individually wrapped. The paper over the chocolate makes it look like a present.
