PROS/CONS and WHY this WILL or WON'T be what you personally need
A relative passed and I inherited literally over a 1,000 slides.I need something where I could magnify a little and see easier. I didn't want to spend a ton of bucks either.PROS:PRICE: Well, hard to beat the price, so I'll start there, but no matter the price, does it WORK?BATTERIES: for this low price, actually came WITH batteries! A plus.PERFORMANCE : FOR MY needs, YES, it works just fine. VERY simple, you put the batteries in, put a slide in the slot and can view with the light behind it and it magnifies about two times the size of the slide.QUALITY: Pretty impressed for how inexpensive it was. Seems sturdy enough and is simple to use. Even comes with a little cloth to wipe the glass screen.CONS:IF YOU NEED MAGNIFIED a lot (even with my reading glasses, it's not like the image is huge), THIS is NOT for you!Slides are SMALL and so magnifying about twice their size, not great at all for a lot of detailPutting in batteries, the metal was a little bent where you put batteries and took me a minute to get them in right, but had it good to go in about three minutes.BOTTOMLINE: IF you just need to see slides a LITTLE larger and with light behind them, REALLY inexpensive way to go through a lot of slides fast.

Simple and easy to use
I found a box of slides in my parents attic, somehow they did not ruin after 30+ years in there. I tried using apps to see the images, but couldn’t clearly make them out and couldn’t make them large enough to show my dad to talk about them so I went to Amazon and found a slide projector. Now, this is small which I’m pretty sure it’s listed in the details so it’s no problem. Not bulky, easy to pack up and take around with me. I was able to show my dad the slides he hadn’t seen in years and talk about the family members pictured in them. You just put the slide in the slot and hold down so there’s a connection to light up the picture. Now I wish I had more family slides to check out.

If you have slides you must hve this
I inherited a box of hundereds of slides--family photos from the 1950s-60s. I'm going to have some of the best of them made into prints. This tool is esential to the project. Great price too.

For the price, it's OK.
I wanted a simple slide viewer to go through about 500 slides dating back to the '60s. I really like the ones on Amazon that cost only $5-10 more (there are dozens, look like all the same item, each with a cutesy Chinese name on them), but since they are all the same item, they all have the same complaint in the reviews that old slides stick in the viewer. This one didn't have that issue; instead it has the battery compartment that's a beast to remove. At least that needs to be done only every few years! Anyway, ithas this impressive screen on its face, but disappointingly, you need to look way into the unit to see the slide at a much smaller size inside. You have to hold the slide down into the device to keep the light on, which would be no big deal except you have to push way too hard for it to be comfortable for more than just a few slides at a time. I did repair this flaw by tweaking the contact with needlenose pliers. Also, the light has an annoying flicker since the electrical "contacts" are just where two of the metal pieces inside touch when the slide pushes them together. I fixed that with a dab of solder on both pieces so the solder dabs become the contacts. Now it works as it should have out of the box. All except for the very difficult-to-remove battery compartment cover. So for $20, it's OK now, but it's handy to be able to tweak these things to get them working properly. My 50-year-old plastic viewer finally disintegrated from age, so this one works almost as well as the old one did and will suffice.

Good choice
This viewer was just what we needed to view some old slides we found. Easy to use, doesn't magnify but you get a clear, easy -to-see image. What more could we want for less than $15?
