Disappointing
I have had several of those prove apparatus. This one must be the worst and it is a shame.First of all the magnet itself is so week it doesn’t hold in place. It constantly slides to the bottom of wherever you put it. Abs as there is no “legs” at the back you can’t even place it in a flat surface. When connected to the app, you can set all you want, it never rings on the phone when it reaches temperature or time. So tried it all, Notification Center, unmute phone etx.Only the apparatus on the bbq will beep.VERY disappointing and I can’t return itDon’t waste your money. Go for another one

Works well
These do as expected. Only reduced to a 4 as the alarm on my phone constantly goes off when cooking. It does it when it loses bluetooth. Apart from that a bloody good set. A good buy

Works GREAT, super easy to use and set up, less chance of overcooking
At first there was some confusion and frustration when I initially started to use the device after charging because I was following the directions. The directions state that a short press of the center button will adjust the programmed temperature from Celsius to Fahrenheit. The button does work for that, once you download the app to your device. There is a QR code provided in the instruction pamphlet to download the app for the unit. The app is simple, clean, and functional. During the cooking process I moved outside of the bluetooth range for the device and it provided an alarm to inform me it had lost connection. Once I was back into range it was simple to reconnect to the device. I assume the range will depend on a few things, including your device (the Bluetooth used for your device), the materials between you and the thermometer (I had taken the trash out, so the entire house was between my phone and the thermometer), and lastly the Bluetooth used in the thermometer device. (I am using an iPhone 11 as of this review with the most recent iOS software).Inside of the app, you can set the device to alarm you, for up to 4 thermometer probes and the alarm can be set for time and/or temperature. In my initial test of the device, I began cooking my meat in an electric smoker and finished the meat in the oven on 425 degrees. It was an easy transition between the two locations and because of the magnets inside the device, it was easy to move between the two spaces and not concern myself with the length of the cord associated with the probes.Safety consideration: It is a bit embarrassing to mention this, I burnt my fingers a bit after the baking portion of the cooking process. I typically check the temperature of my cooked meat with a meat thermometer; well my brain said that is exactly what I had done, then I proceeded to grab hold of the metal probe with bare fingers (I was instantly reminded it was not a room temperature meat thermometer) and caused a little excitement to my day. So, remember to use the proper equipment when removing the probe from the meat after cooking.I will provide updates to this review as they are realized.

Display unit is nice. Companion app could use some work
***UPDATE: Great for smoking!! Ok, I had to come back and give an update because I just have the nicest experience smoking my first ever pork shoulder. I was on a Weber Kettle 22". I cant imagine trying to do it without a probe thermometer, and this one really worked excellent. So here is one really beautiful thing this does. I put one probe on the grill in an open space using the grill clamp. That probe monitored the temperature inside grill the whole time. I put the other probe inside the pork shoulder. The probe gives a temperature update every two seconds or so, but what is so cool is it tracks it all on a graph. This is so handy when seeing if your meat has stalled. It's also really satisfying to look back at the graph after the cook is done. I was able to see every time I open the lid where the temperature dipped and climbed. I was able to watch the roast temp creep up to 155 and stall for 3 hours before steady climb back up to 202. The probes and display worked perfect. The battery life is phenomenal. A 15 hour smoke session took it from 89% down to 70%As for the bad. The phone app is still has some kinks. I am on IOS16 still. The app seemed totally fine when checking on it every 5-10 minutes. If I left it alone for too long without checking, It would have a message that said it needs to reconnect. When I hit the reconnect button the app would freeze. To unfreeze it, I simply hard close it and open it back up. It is the only reason I'm not giving this a 5 star.Even though the app isn't perfect ONLY if left idle for too long, it was still a really nice experience, and my first ever smoked pork shoulder was a TOTAL SUCCESS.--***Original review: I grilled a whole chicken with these on my first use, and did not have a great experience. These are very finicky to use on the grill. I'd suggest not even trying to use them until after your first flip and you're ready to leave your meat alone to finish cooking. It's a real pain to take this prongs out mid cook, then flip, then put them back in.The app is completely unreliable, at least with IOS16. I could hear the unit beeping to indicate the temperature was ready, but no alerts or beeping on my phone. Everything was set up just fine, but the app was frozen, I couldn't tap on anything, so the temperature was not being registered. The app also disconnected far too frequently to be useful. My experience in the oven was much better, since the unit itself makes a beeping noise and I was in earshot. It's quite loud too.

Only way to cook meat
At first I thought this thing might be too fancy for just day to day use. I thought you needed to download the app to use it but you don’t necessarily need to. I did download it to change it from Celsius to Fahrenheit . Once I did that I have not had to use the app since. I love that you can use this for the grill outside and it will notify you on your phone when it is at temp. I don’t like cooking any meat without a thermometer that can stay in for the whole cooking process and this is my third one. I like that the magnet can hang it on the fridge but it is not quite strong enough on some parts of my fridge and will slide down from the weight if there is nothing below it. Not sure I will ever use all four probes at once but it is nice to have the option and back up ones in case one breaks. One thing to also know about this one is it has to be recharged. I have used it a few times and even accidentally left it on and have not had to charge it yet but that is one feature that is a little different from my other thermometers that were just button cell batteries or triple a’s

Too many problems to give this a fair test
Bottom line: I wasn't able to get it to work.First, the good - It's easy to read, and each probe has it's own little gizmo to wind it onto so that you don't have to store this gangly wire in the drawer.Unless there's something I'm missing and is not included in the terse manual, the unit itself will only display the temperature and has no internal method of alerting you when a certain temperature has been reached. I assume this is done via the phone app. It has a grand total of one button. Long press to power on/off. Short press to change the temperature unit (C/F).I downloaded and installed the phone app. Step one is that I had to log in and/or create an account. WHY??? Why do they need any personal information from me so that I can check the temperature of my meat? Fortunately, I have a throw-away email account that I keep for times like this. I entered it and was sent an activation code. Entering that got me to the next step, adding a device. I pressed the Add Device button and it started searching. And searching, and searching. Nothing found. My bluetooth *was* turned on and nothing else was connected to it.They also offer a method of adding the device manually, and I was given a list of every possible bluetooth device available. I get the impression that this is a third party app utilized by this thermometer manufacturer. The instructions included in the app didn't match what the unit was doing. After making a few more tries, I finally gave up.But assuming you can get this to work, I have issues with this working via bluetooth. This means that you've got to be connected the entire time your food is cooking, which can be hours. During that time, I'll be unable to listen to music, or to use my headphones for taking phone calls, etc. WIFI would be a far better. So, this will sadly get tossed. But I *will* keep one of those wire wrapping gizmos for my other meat thermometer.
