One of the best oils on the market!
The Valvoline Restore & Protect speaks for itself. The quality is top of the line and pricing is right on par with the rest of the product line and competitors. It absolutely cleans carbon and sludge out of engine. A VOA showed a fantastic additive and wear package. Fuel efficiency is about the same but this oil is a cleaning oil and requires 4-6 changes to be full effective, but you can use it permanently, if you so choose. I change in 5000 mile oil changes and it does a great job and has been tested on numerous vehicles. I recommend this to anyone especially GDI engines or turbocharged.

One of the best oils for the price and quality!!
This newer Valvoline Restore & Protect is an awesome Full synthetic oil that cleans out sludge, carbon and the oil passages. The value is great for many vehicles that have not been taken well care of. The price is right on par with other Valvoline products and its lower quality competitors. I use this in a half dozen vehicles, even though they have been taken great care of. You can use it constantly going forward or 4-6 oil changes to clean up an engine. The VOA's show great additive and wear packages. It is API SP certified, but I believe SN Plus previously is a better API rating. Functionally, I can guarantee it works because I cut open my oil filters and have found carbon in the pleats. I will continue adding friends and families' vehicles into this product line.

It seems to be working
I bought a used Honda pilot. It had about 100k miles. The car still had its cylinder deactivation hooked up when I got it and after reading about sludge buildup I decided to try this oil to remove the sludge buildup. The first oil change the oil came out black as night after 2k miles. It lost about half a quart. My next oil change was 3k later. It was better but still darker than I like. No oil loss. I’m on my third oil change now and still have 2k miles before I get to 5k. Looking at the dip stick the oil is looking great. Looks like new. If you have a sludged up engine that might burn some oil this could be beneficial for you. My Honda has been running great and doesn’t burn a drop now. I hope it works for you. It did for me.

Serious cleaning power! Even cleaned the burnt oil off the dipstick
I mixed this with mobil 1 synthetic high mileage, 1 quart of this stuff and 5 quarts of mobil in the ole chevy ls 5.3L. (tahoe 2005 lt)Noticed the next couple of days while checking the oil that the burnt oil on the dipstick has been cleaned off. That's how good this stuff is. I had even engine flushed with liquimoly earlier this year- so this is actually getting stuff out that even the flush additive missed. Also, looks like just 1 quart is cleaning like that. Imagine if I did 6 full quarts of this. That's probably what I'll try next time.My LS has 378,000 miles and I change the oil religiously with a purolator boss filter every 3000 miles. It still purrs like a kitten and runs like new. No ticks or anything else. I know, amazing right? Knock on wood.I hope you can have a similar experience. Finally, the price is on point. Recommended.

Oil that does actually clean the inside of your engine, I saw the proof myself
Great oil that does actually clean the entire oil path in a car's engine. I have a 2000 Toyota Avalon that was normally maintained. But this engine is known for oil sludge build up in the upper cylinder area. My used oil, after 3,000 miles was always very black. I watched some YouTube videos from The Motor Oil Geek and gave it a try. The first two changes with this oil were still dirty after 2,000 miles, but then when draining the third old oil I noticed the color was much lighter. So I refilled it a 4th time with good quality filters (Wa--art SuperTech filters were proven to be very good) and after another 2,000 I checked the dipstick and the oil looked as clean as when it was first poured in. I'm sold! Didn't noticed an increase in MPG. But the oil costs the same as any other top name oil

Ticking lifters
I have a 2011 Highlander Limited which was dealer maintained since new until my Toyota maintenance plan ran out, I did my own oil change after that. Was using 0W20 Mobil 1 and Mobil 1 filter every 4K mile OCI. At 120K miles, I noticed a slight ticking noise on the engine at operating temperature, no ticking on start up or on cold engine. I didn’t mind it because it comes and goes. It’s not noticeable during winter weather but started to be louder and persistent during summer esp when it’s 100F. Went to an independent shop and had them listen to the engine and they said it sounds like a lifter ticking on bank 2, went for a 2nd opinion, had the Toyota master tech listen to it and he too said it sounds like lifter tick. I asked him how much would it cost to fix it, he said it’s an engine out job and labor is pricey. The engine runs fine, no oil consumption issues, no loss of power, idles perfectly so I just told myself I’ll just drive this until the engine dies. It’s just so annoying to hear the ticking sound. Was told by a friend with the same issue (2grfe engine), to change to a higher grade oil, I tried Pennzoil platinum 0w30, ticking sound still persisted. Fast forward 138K miles, came across Lake Speed video on Valvoline R&P oil and in time for my scheduled oil change, bought the Valvoline R&P 0W20 5 qt jug at Walmart for$29,( bought 2 jugs, cheaper than buying 2 one qt bottle) Mobil 1 filter and changed the oil. Less than 100 miles on this oil, the ticking sound diminished greatly. After 1000 miles I couldn’t hear the ticking sound even at long drives and at over 100F weather. Changed the oil after 2000 miles and it was dark. Did not find any sediments on the filter though. Will run the next oil for 3000 miles and see if it’s still dark. Don’t really know what the problem was, (sticky lifter?, sludge formation?, kind of oil?). Just happy the ticking sound is gone and not have the engine pulled out of the car. Out of stock in Walmart, cheaper on Amazon.
