Hey, I’m James Brains with the Brains Report, and this is my video review of the PetSafe Healthy Pet Water Station.There are 3 main reasons why we like the PetSafe Healthy Pet Water Station:1. Clean – Our preschooler likes to play with the pet’s water. This water station reduces the amount available to him. In fact, he’s shown little interest in it.2. Easy to Use – I didn’t even have to read the directions. Just pop and fill and replace. It’s a PFR operation.3. Easy to Clean – Remove the stainless steel bowl and use your soap-dispensing dish scrubber to gitter done.We got this for our two cats and dog for Christmas last year. You see, we have a family tradition of getting each other water bowls. Much like Stranger in a Strange Land, we believe the sharing of water and water receptacles is a true sign of friendship and love.The pets immediately took to the water. Even the cats like doing their weird licky thing in it. We have not had any issues with rust, and we like that you can see the water level to know when to add more. Also, it’s BPA-free and dishwasher safe, though I don’t think it would fit in our dishwasher.This model improved our home décor immensely. Before, people would come over and say, “Ewww, let’s leave.” Now, they stay for hours at a time. Some visitors even take their shoes off and get comfortable!Overall, I would recommend this to anyone who has pets and doesn’t like giving them water too often. We only have to fill it about every week or so. If you don’t have pets, I really don’t know how you would get much use out of this. Maybe for some weird BDSM play? I don’t know. It’s your kink. This waterer is VERY well made. It is easy to clean and sanitize, doesn't leak at all, has a small footprint, and doesn't scare our girls.We had the Le Bistro prior to this and while we liked it very much it was too small (2qts for 4 Chihuahuas meant we had to fill it every day which kinda defeats the purpose of this sort of waterer), the sound of the air bubbles was a bit startling at times and while the base was easy to clean the bottle was not.All of those issues are addressed in this product. Moreover, they've addressed issues I didn't even know I had with the other!With this PetSafe waterer you can wash the stainless steel bowl daily without having to wash the whole base. Our girls are generally not droolers and they don't "play" in their water but as a pet sitter I've met dogs who needed their water bowls washed out twice daily just so you could see through the yuck. The removable part cleans in minutes with ease and the slow flow valve also keeps the yuck out of the fresh water in the reservoir. I'll be telling my clients about this one!The wider mouth on the reservoir makes cleaning it much easier as expected but just filling it is easier too, no funnel, tubes, or mops required!There are three things I'd change if I had me a magic wand:1) the reservoir is NOT fillable from the top on the one we received. You do have to remove it, flip it and open the bottom to fill it. This is not a terrible chore but as another reviewer had stated that it was fillable from the top I'd been looking forward to that feature. I imagine that the other reviewer had the larger size but I'm only guessing… We purchased the medium.2) The black bit at the top that covers what would be a hole in a top fillable design (but only works as a stabilizer for filling in this one) should function as a carrying handle but does not. I promise you bloody, torn, and broken fingernails if you try it. Don't try it.3) The reservoir is rather opaque; as we've placed this out of the way and it's not backlit it's hard to see that it needs filling from across the room. I put a small black float in with the water in hopes of having a visible indicator but only just now and I haven't any results to share yet. Try it out, I think it'll work.We LOVE this product. A bargain at twice the price – no really, twice. Perhaps even thrice.You will not be disappointed.

PROS:The reservoir holds enough water for our multi-cat household for about a week. It is convenient and easy to clean. (I typically rinse the bowl at the bottom every night.)CONS:The gallon size (128 oz) is a bit too large, and it becomes unwieldy to move when it's full. For cats, I would get a smaller size and just refill it more often.The black part on the top is just decorative. I kept wanting to take it off to refill the reservoir from the top, but no such luck. I finally threw that part away because it gets in the way when you go to remove the reservoir. I get why it doesn't have an opening on top, because that would mess up the water pressure.Finally, the water dispenser makes a glugging noise when it refills that sounds a bit like a cat trying to cough up a hairball. It's not a problem, just something to be aware of so you don't freak out every time you hear it.Overall:I recommend this water station and would definitely buy another one to put elsewhere in my house! I personally would get a smaller size in the future.The manufacturer might consider doing away with the black portion on top, because it doesn't serve a purpose.
